Manufacturer recalls ham due to Salmonella suspicion

The Campofrio Food Group Deutschland GmbH from North Rhine-Westphalia, Ratingen has started a recall for the product “Aoste core ham 80g”. The ham could be contaminated with Salmonella. These bacteria can cause diarrhea and other health problems.

Potential Salmonella Contamination

The Campofrio Food Group Deutschland GmbH in Ratingen (North Rhine-Westphalia) calls the product “Aoste core ham 80g” with the minimum shelf-life data, 13.12.2018, 20.12.2018, 26.12.2018 and 03.01.2019. According to a notice from the company to a potential Salmonella contamination exist in the case of certain batches of pork from a supplier. “The potentially affected raw material was processed in the product “Aoste core ham 80g”,” writes the manufacturer.

From the consumption of the affected products is discouraged

“From the product analysis of the suppliers and our manufacturer is for us to make any actual Salmonella contamination of the notified pork batches, or of the final product,” it says.

Nevertheless, the company calls back, as a precaution, the following batches of “Aoste core ham 80g”:

According to the figures, the products were chains marketed under different trade in Germany. “We advise against consuming the affected products.”

Buyer will receive against sending the product photos, including date of minimum durability and batch number and an indication of the Bank details of the MSRP price refunded.

Bacteria can cause gastro-intestinal disorders

Salmonella can be the cause of serious gastro-intestinal diseases (salmonellosis).

The disease occurs a few hours to days after infection and is expressed primarily by suddenly the onset of diarrhea, abdominal pain, malaise, feeling cold and headache.

In some cases, vomiting and a slight fever.

The complaints usually disappear after a few hours or days.

For infants, small children, the elderly and people with weakened immune system of the fluid loss due to diarrhea and vomiting can be dangerous. (ad)
