Counting on! Amy Duggar announced that she and her husband, Dillon King, are expecting their first child.
“BABY KING IS ON THE WAY!!!” the 32-year-old reality star captioned a picture of the pair holding balloons that spell out the word “BABY” on Instagram on Sunday, April 21. “Happy Easter from our growing family to yours!!”
King echoed his wife’s excitement on his own social media page: “We are completely speechless, overly excited and ready for the next chapter as new parents!”
The niece of 19 Kids and Counting stars Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar and her husband exclusively told Us Weekly in December that they were “practicing … not preventing” pregnancy. “If it happens, it happens,” Amy said at the time. “We’re ready to be parents. We’re ready whenever it happens.”
One worry she did express, though: “I don’t want to look like an Oompa Loompa.”
Amy also opened up about her plans for a unique pregnancy announcement. “We want to do things out of the ordinary,” she explained at the time. King then cryptically noted: “You’ll see a bubble full with color.”
Though the couple, who tied the knot in September 2015, were often filmed bickering on season 7 of Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars in 2016, they are now in a better place — and share similar views on child rearing.
“For me, I just want to be a hands-on kind of mom. He’ll be a hands-on kind of dad,” Amy revealed to Us. “We want to be involved in our kids’ lives no matter what they do. And they’re going to be our little best friends. They don’t know it yet, but they will.”
The pair previously told Us about their struggles in June 2017. “Our love isn’t perfect, but it’s real!” she said at the time. “We don’t try to be anything we are not. We hope to make people laugh and get a sense for who we are as a couple.”
