Wearing This Might Get You More Dates, According To An Expert

Get ready to paint the town red, a dating expert has found that wearing the hue helped her pick up more.

In a social experiment, Hayley Quinn spent an afternoon walking around East London wearing a vibrant red coat.

And the results were pretty definitive.

In the video, you can see Hayley being approached by a number of men, an occurrence that the dating expert insists is rare. She says she was shocked at the amount of compliments she received from strangers, with a few asking for her number and one even giving her a kiss on the cheek.

“Wearing red actually, surprisingly enough, does seem to work,” the 30-year-old concludes in the video. “I think it’s probably because you actually stand out.”

Hayley also tested whether the red-effect worked online by creating two different dating profiles – on Bumble she uploaded images where she was wearing red while on Tinder she opted for more neutral pictures.

After three minutes of swiping she had double the matches on the former.

This theory is backed up by research.

In the European Journal of Social Psychology, lead researcher Steven G Young wrote, “Recent evidence suggests that coloration may serve a purpose in human mating, as female sexual excitement is associated with reddening of the cheeks, neck, and chest.”

“Heterosexual men are sensitive to red coloration on women. Compared with a range of other colours, women viewed on red backgrounds or wearing red clothing are found more attractive.”

“Even when women are viewed merely carrying red objects (e.g., laptop computers), they are found more attractive than when holding comparable objects in different colours.”

Plus is goes both ways. Research found that women were also more attracted to men wearing red, so keep your eyes peeled.
