Coping With a Cancer Patient’s Anger

Cancer continues to be the second leading cause of morbidity in the United States. Receiving a cancer diagnosis can elicit several, and sometimes extreme, emotional responses from patients.

Many oncologists report that a patient’s first response to a cancer diagnosis is often anger. That anger can be targeted at those closest to the patient, including their family, friends, and physicians.
