Serena Williams teased fans on Instagram Tuesday night by posting a photo of herself and her fiancé Alexis Ohanian with a caption that read “…but are you ready?” And now, she finally shared exactly what we’ve been getting ready for: a photo of her adorable baby daughter.
Serena posted a pic of herself cuddling her newborn baby, along with a caption that revealed her name. “Meet Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. You have to check out link in bio for her amazing journey,” she wrote. Worth noting: Baby Alexis shares her dad’s name, which is pretty dang cute and unique!
New daddy Alexis posted a video on YouTube titled “Hello, world” that showed a montage of sweet moments from Serena’s pregnancy. “I felt you kick yesterday,” he says in one clip. “It was amazing.” The couple can also be seen dancing, road-tripping, and setting up the nursery together in the video.
“So we’re leaving the hospital after six, seven days,” Serena says later in the video, while holding her baby. “It’s been a long time, but we had a lot of complications, but look who we got—we got a baby girl!”
The video also includes an adorable “birth announcement” that lists off baby Alexis’ full name, her birth date (Sept. 1), weight (3.1kgs), and number of Grand Slam titles (one, cheekily referencing the fact that Serena won the Australian Open while she was pregnant).
The couple waited to find out the sex of their baby, but both thought it was going to be a girl. “[Serena] won the Australian Open while pregnant. And she remarked that she feels like it has to be a girl because everything that that baby went through and handled like a champ, only a woman could be strong enough to take on,” Alexis said on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in early August.
And Serena, who posed for Vogue’s September issue, told the magazine that “I have a strong suspicion that it’s a girl.”
