Other than the whereabouts of The Lock Ness Monster and Katy Perry’s OG hair colour, there are very few things in life that remain a true mystery. Which is why the Internet is freaking the eff out over this weird bodily phenomenon.
Earlier this week, a woman named Aaryn Whitley took to Twitter after noticing that she and her friends had a solitary freckle in the exact same spot: right in the middle of their wrist.
“Ladies… u got a freckle in the middle of ur wrist or is this a myth lmao,” she wrote.
It didn’t take long for the post to go viral, with thousands of others sharing their own freckle snaps.
“I was like haaaa not me. Then I looked at my left wrist,” one user said.
“I’ve had this single dark ass freckle on my wrist since I was a child and I’m very shook to see so many people with one as well like?????,” another added.
And on it went:
Admittedly, there were a few people that didn’t share the mystery mark and some with loads more freckles than others. That said, the majority concurred that it was true for them too.
So, what’s the science behind this, you ask? Well, no one seems to know for sure. But as freckles are made by a build-up of melanin and triggered by UV exposure, we can only assume it’s because this area sees the most sun.
The magic of the human body, eh?!
