We are one step closer to a world in which every possible age group can be enjoying some form of Kristen Bell-infused content simultaneously. Some of us will be watching the Good Place, some will be enjoying her Momsplaining, some will not yet be cursing her foolishness on Veronica Mars. And soon, the kids who aren’t quite ready for the action in Frozen and Frozen 2 can watch her upcoming Amazon Studios TV series Do, Re & Mi.
“Today I was in the studio working on #DoReMi — a preschool show that explores music!” Bell captioned an Instagram pic of herself. “Different [styles] of music, how to sing it, how to read it, how to play and how to love it!”
To be completely honest, we should have remembered that more than a whole year ago, Amazon and production company Gaumont announced that Do, Re & Mi had been greenlit. They even said back then that Bell was a producer and star of the animated show about three musically inclined bird friends, and that one of the creators was none other than Glow star Jackie Tohn. But there’s a difference between reading about something in a trade publication like Variety and seeing Bell in her gorgeous banana dress actually making the thing.
“With music programs being cut from public schools left and right, I couldn’t imagine spending time on something more important than this,” Bell continued. “I’m also a voice on the show, along with @jackietohn #fredarmisen and many other talented people, and I cannot wait for you to see it!!”
Fred Armisen definitely sweetens the deal for the parents watching along. We should also be enticed by the educational mission of the show, which Melissa Wolfe, Amazon’s head of kids’ programming, said in a statement would take “an innovative approach to musical curriculum which will inspire our youngest customers to create their own language around music.”
The first season of Do, Re & Mi will have 52 11-minute episodes, and we don’t yet have word on the premiere date. We’ll count on Bell to remind us, now that we’re besties and all.
