Maren Morris' Advice to Musicians: Don't Choose Between Motherhood & Career

If 2019 taught us anything, it’s that we should never underestimate the power of working mothers. Pink has been touring the globe with her kids, Alex Morgan plans on competing in the Olympics after giving birth, and Lauren Conrad brings her children to work. It comes as no surprise then that mothers will support other mothers who live their life like they normally would while being a mom. Musician Maren Morris, who’s expecting her first child, publicly shared on Instagram how she feels about other women who don’t choose between their careers and motherhood.

“So unbelievably happy for you @annieclements ! I love that we’ll get to experience this new-mom-on-the-road life together,” Morris captioned under a photo of herself and fellow touring musician and mother-to-be, Annie Clements. “I know there are so many women who feel like they have to choose between being a touring musician + starting a family. I never wanted my people to choose. I think it’s a great conversation to have if you’re an artist who employs women. So let’s shred for 90 minutes and then go rock these babes to sleep on the bus with a glass of wine,” she concluded.

In response, she received so much support from fans who’ve walked in her shoes. “The best employees are mothers. we are time managing/instinctual/multitasking/heartfelt machines,” a follower commented. “Ah! So exciting! Love that you use your platform for this. Working moms have it so hard, I can’t even imagine the added layer of touring. You ladies are inspiring!” another wrote.

Since both Maren and Clements are on the GIRL: The World Tour, together they’ll have plenty to talk about as their due dates approach. Not one to spare any details, the Grammy winner revealed on Instagram that her and husband Ryan Hurd are expecting a son with an Aries sign.

We can’t wait to e-meet the little guy! But until then, we’ll be admiring the soon-to-be mamas for rocking out with their bellies out.
