As a new parent it’s often hard to determine whether your child’s injury or illness is alarming enough to warrant a trip to hospital.
But popular Aussie blogger, Sophia Cachia, has shared a helpful, and possibly life-saving, tip she picked up when her daughter suffered an asthma attack while on holidays.
She posted a video to Instagram showing the telltale signs that Florence was unable to breath properly.
“After being taken in an ambo on our second night and told to come back to the hospital anytime we weren’t sure, this is what we took her back for on our last night,” Sophie wrote in the caption.
She admits she’s no professional, but thanks to her son Bobby’s experience with asthma attacks Sophie and her husband Jaryd know the signs to look out for.
“The sucking in under her throat & her ribs means she’s working really hard to breathe. We used prior knowledge & listened to our gut and Jaryd took her in just before bedtime. Lucky, because the poor thing spent the night hooked up to oxygen.”
Her post received thousands of grateful comments from other parents, and she’s reassured them that Flossy is fortunately on the mend.
Other signs of asthma in children include wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, being too breathless to eat, speak, or sleep, rapid heartbeat, dizziness, blue lips or fingers and fainting.
