Celiac disease can be achieved by bifidobacteria avoid?

Patients with celiac disease are intolerant to Gluten in wheat and some other cereals. Researchers have found evidence that certain intestinal bacteria – in particular, bifidobacteria – for the prevention and treatment could be used.

People with celiac disease have altered intestinal flora. Cure the disease, not yet, patients must adhere to a strict gluten-free diet. Despite the diet, it is usually not possible to return to an ideal intestinal microbiome to recover. Especially bifidobacteria break down Gluten into smaller and less harmful fragments, are represented in the patients less. Therefore, researchers from Sao Paulo, Brazil, have investigated in detail how four different strains of bifidobacteria to degrade Gluten, and what could be the impact of the fragments on the immune response.

New Möurgent für-a therapy

In an artificial intestinal environment disassembled Bifidobacterium longum Gluten in most of the fragments, compared with other types, or a mixture of all four strains. Then the Team investigated the inflammatory responses to the various fragments, and whose cell-damaging properties. The results showed that the Bifidobacterium longum produced fragments have caused injury to the intestinal cells at least. The researchers hope that the identification of the reactions of the immune system to these fragments could pave the way for new treatments.
