One recent graduate of the ASPCA Behavioral Rehabilitation Center (BRC) is now looking for the right adopter in the Kansas City, Missouri, area. Sequoia is a gentle, sweet two-year-old looking to continue to gain his confidence. After graduating from the BRC, Sequoia was transferred to Wayside Waifs in Missouri, where he was made available for adoption. However, the sights and sounds of a large shelter left Sequoia feeling frightened and alone. Fortunately, a shelter employee decided to foster this handsome fella, and has helped him learn to trust and open up around new people and places.
This smart boy is fully housetrained and is very polite when left alone in his home. Though he won’t approach new people for attention, he is always good-natured and will slowly open up. In his foster home, Sequoia has benefited greatly from living with another dog friend. A friendly canine companion will help him as he continues to gain his confidence.
Other things Sequoia loves are car rides and walks! He will get very excited when he sees his leash and, according to his foster caregiver, will “bounce with joy,” when he gets out in the fresh air. Sequoia is easily frightened by loud, unfamiliar noises, but is learning to quickly recover.
Sequoia has made great progress on his journey toward a home, but he’s still looking for someone who is patient and understanding, and willing to celebrate small victories and milestones with him. Recently, Sequoia has begun to show his goofy and playful side, but he always remembers his manners inside his foster home. He would do best in a quiet, calm household where he is given a routine and schedule.
Since this month is Adopt a Shelter dog month, it’s the perfect time to give a dog like Sequoia the chance to become the beloved pet he wants to become. He’s just waiting for someone like you!
